The Beatification Cause for Our Foundress

The foundress of the St. Francis de Sales Association, Venerable Caroline Barbe Colchen Carré de Malberg, is under consideration for beatification by the Vatican. The postulator for her cause for sainthood has asked to be sent testimonies of special favors granted after petitioning Mme Carré for help. Please join us in using this prayer to obtain what is needed for her beatification.

Prayer for the Beatification of Caroline Carré de Malberg

Lord, you put in the heart of Caroline Carré the desire to love you without refusing you anything. Following her example, make me live by the Spirit of Jesus, welcoming daily events according to God’s plan. Deign to manifest her holiness in granting, through her intercession, the graces necessary for me, through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.

How to Report Graces Received

Venerable Caroline Carré intercedes with God for those who entrust themselves to her prayer!

If you have been praying to Mme Carré and would like to submit a testimony of blessings received through her intercession, please use the form below. Alternatively, you may place your original testimony in a sealed envelope marked Testimony Mme Carré. Place that inside of another envelope and mail to our association headquarters at:

Les Amis de L’Entraide Salesienne
Centre Salesien
57-59 rue Leon Frot
75011 Paris, France

Our center in Paris will keep a record of testimonies received and send them on to the postulator in Rome.

Bishop Lagleize, bishop of Metz where Caroline died, has asked for testimonies on how people pray for their needs through the intercession of Mme Carré. He emphasized that it was important for Rome to know we invoke her help; it does not have to result in a miracle! In Rome they want to hear that people are praying to Mme Carré and that Mme Carré ‘pulls her weight in heaven’!

Testimonies of Graces Received

Since the return to the Father of our foundress in 1891, her reputation for holiness has been reinforced by the testimonies of graces requested and obtained through her intercession. Here are some of them. They illustrate well the word of the Lord: “He who asks, receives.” These are all encouragements to ask with faith, through the intercession of Venerable Caroline, for the help of God’s grace for those who are dear to us.

“My eldest daughter, whose military husband is in Mali for four months and who already had an ectopic pregnancy last December, has a miscarriage at two months pregnant. I tell A. who replies that she entrusts my daughter to Caroline Carré, whom I hear about for the first time twice in the same day. Intrigued, I try to find out who she was, get acquainted with her and attach myself to her life, being myself wife and mother of a soldier and living in Metz. In February, a service brought me to Lorry for the first time; I’m waiting for the guides late… and enters the open chapel. I see Caroline’s grave and I take the opportunity to pray to her and entrust my eldest daughter to her in particular. Our son-in-law returns from Mali three days later. A little girl was born in November. I do not expressly attribute this birth to my humble prayer, but why not!” (France, 2020)

“Our little girl of 8 months was hospitalized, suffering from a very serious toxicosis, the temperature rising to more than 42 °. On Monday night, the doctor allowed my husband and I to stay at the child’s bedside, fearing that she would not spend the night. I then witnessed a real agony: with her arms tied to the bars of the bed (because of the infusion) the little one struggled, constantly waving her head and legs. His livid face already bore the traces of death. His purple and tense hands were stiff and icy. The memory of Madame Carré’s life then came to my memory and I begged her, who had experienced such anguish at the bedside of her children, to help me accept the ordeal generously. I hardly dared to ask him for the healing of my child, as his condition seemed hopeless to me. A quarter of an hour or half an hour later, his breathing became more regular and the eyes that had not been able to sleep for 48 hours closed. A moment later, the nurse approaches the bed and says, ‘But she is saved, your child, she has passed the course of death.’” (Digne, France, 1953)
